CHATGPT ADS
LANDING PAGES

We design and optimise landing pages that turn the context behind a ChatGPT ad click into a measurable action. Message, proof, UX, forms and tracking are treated as one post-click system: when the ad is specific but the destination is generic, value is lost after the media has already done its job.

Post-click performance

The conversation ends. The landing page has to continue it.

The page does not need to repeat the ad. It needs to answer the intent that made the ad relevant. OpenAI documents the landing page among the signals that can contribute to relevance and outcomes, but it does not describe a Google-style landing-page Quality Score. Message match, hierarchy, proof and friction are therefore our CRO methodology, not an OpenAI ranking formula.

1. Message match: continue the intent, do not repeat the ad

The landing page should answer the need that made the ad relevant. If an ad group addresses a specific application, product or problem but the click lands on a generic homepage, the visitor has to reconstruct the journey.

OpenAI includes the landing page, ad title and copy among the signals that can contribute to relevance and outcomes. That does not amount to a documented Quality Score, and it does not turn a CRO principle into an auction rule. Our decision to align headline, proposition, hierarchy and CTA with intent is conversion methodology, not an OpenAI specification.

2. Create a separate destination when the decision genuinely changes

We do not create landing pages by default. We separate destinations when the problem, proposition, product, proof or next action changes materially.

OpenAI recommends keeping each ad group focused on a coherent theme or intent and using context hints to describe what the product offers, who it helps and when it may be useful. We extend that logic into the post-click experience: when two intents require genuinely different messages or decisions, we evaluate separate destinations; where one page can serve them properly, improving that page usually creates cleaner learning.

3. Proof and risk reduction before the form

A performance landing page needs to show why the option deserves trust. We select cases, data, capabilities, logos, guarantees, FAQs or product evidence according to the objection most likely to block action.

Proof should appear where it helps the decision. Filling a page with unrelated testimonials cannot compensate for a vague proposition.

4. Forms and CTAs should match the level of commitment

Purchase, demo, contact, quotation and registration require different levels of effort. We remove fields and steps that add no decision value, but we do not chase the shortest possible form when that produces leads sales cannot qualify.

In B2B we agree what information sales genuinely needs; in ecommerce we review variants, pricing, availability, checkout and friction beyond the product page.

5. Tracking that survives redirects and multi-step journeys

The post-click journey also has to protect attribution. OpenAI appends oppref to the destination URL and recommends preserving that reference through redirects and navigation so it can be associated with later conversion events. We also review UTMs, events, Pixel/CAPI and any domain or funnel change that could break the signal.

When the same conversion is sent through Pixel and Conversions API, we use the same event ID to support deduplication. A CRO improvement is not complete if reported conversion rises only because measurement has been damaged.

6. CRO should test hypotheses that change decisions

We prioritise experiments around proposition, proof, structure, CTA and friction before cosmetic changes. Campaign data tells us which groups and messages create traffic; the landing page should return learning about what makes that traffic convert.

Where volume does not support a formal statistical experiment, we use qualitative evidence and sequenced changes without pretending the result has precision it does not have.

When to intervene

Not every click needs a new landing page.

Sometimes an existing page only needs focused improvement. In other cases, mixing several materially different intentions into one generic page destroys message match and makes learning harder.

Post-click CRO

Intent → Page → Measure → Improve.

We start with the ad-group intent, build or adapt the destination and instrument measurement before iterating.

Understand what made the ad relevant

We read the ad group, context hints, creative and expected decision before designing.

Which problem the visitor is trying to solve.

What the ad says they will receive.

Build the minimum experience needed to convert

We organise proposition, proof and CTA around that intent.

Message

Immediate continuity with the ad and buyer need.

Proof

Evidence placed where it reduces objections.

Friction

Remove steps or fields that do not help the decision.

03 · MEASURE

Measure without breaking attribution

We instrument the destination before performance is judged.

oppref

Preserve the click reference through the journey.

Events

Actions and conversions defined correctly.

Analytics

UTMs and reconciliation with the business system.

Iterate on commercial hypotheses

Campaign and post-click data guide which changes deserve priority.

Message

Which proposition deserves more emphasis.

UX

Where avoidable friction appears.

Scale

When the page is ready to receive more paid traffic.

Related layers

The landing page connects advertising with commercial outcomes.

CRO needs campaign and measurement context. We therefore work post-click performance alongside management, tracking, ecommerce or B2B where the project requires it.

FAQ

Landing pages and CRO for ChatGPT Ads.

When to create a dedicated destination, what to measure and how to preserve attribution through the journey.

Do I need a new landing page for ChatGPT Ads?

Not necessarily. If the existing page matches the ad intent, converts well and is measured correctly, it may be the best destination. We build a new page only when separating intent or proposition creates a real advantage.

What does message match mean?

It means the landing page continues the need and promise that made the ad relevant. It does not mean repeating the same copy; it means avoiding a generic destination that forces the visitor to search again for the answer.

Does a different landing page mean we need another ad group?

Not necessarily. OpenAI recommends keeping each ad group focused on a coherent theme or intent; from there, we separate landing pages when product, problem, proof or next action changes materially. If one page can serve several intents properly, we prefer to concentrate learning.

Do you run CRO as well as design?

Yes. We prioritise hypotheses around proposition, proof, CTA, forms and friction and use the available data to decide what deserves change. CRO is not reduced to cosmetic redesign.

How do you measure landing-page conversion?

We define events and UTMs and, where appropriate, OpenAI Pixel and Conversions API. Conversion is also checked against ecommerce, analytics or CRM depending on the business.

What happens to oppref when the landing page redirects?

OpenAI appends oppref to the landing-page URL and recommends preserving the reference through redirects and navigation. We check that routers, domain changes, checkout journeys or funnels do not remove it before it can be associated with later events.

Do you optimise B2B forms?

Yes. We balance friction and quality: removing fields can increase volume without improving pipeline. We agree with sales which information is genuinely required for the next step.

Can you develop the landing page as well as design it?

Yes. We can cover strategy, UX/UI, copy, development, tracking and QA so the destination launches as part of the campaign and measurement system.

The click is not the finish line

Is your landing page ready for ChatGPT Ads?

We review message match, proposition, proof, forms, speed and tracking, then recommend whether to improve the existing page, build a dedicated variant or leave it alone for now.
